How do I clean algae/mold found in the closed areas of the water dispenser on the clean water tank?

This can happen for a few reasons:

  • The tanks are left with water in it without being used for a long period of time
  • Unit is exposed to high heat
  • Unit not cleaned regularly
  • Unit left in direct sunlight

Here are some trouble shooting tips

  • Fill the clean water tank with a bleach solution.
  • Use the bleach bottle recommended mixing ratio to achieve a sanitation level of bleach or use approx.
  • If you’d prefer not to use the bleach mixture, you can also try soaking in soap and water instead of the bleach mixture (however, bleach mixture is recommended)
  • Let it stand for at least 30 minutes the longer the better
  • Empty the bleach solution through the water dispenser. Wash the clean water tank thoroughly with soap and water and run a tank of water through the water dispenser to assure all the bleach mixture has been removed
  • After tank and dispenser is thoroughly clean, filter a tank of water and dispose of the filtered water using the dispenser on the clean water tank.
  • Remember: Always empty the remaining tap wastewater left in the tank before refilling.

Remember: Each time you handle the tanks make sure to sanitize your hands and working surfaces. It is important to rinse the tanks after each use and wash the tanks with soap and water thoroughly at least once weekly. Place AquaTru away from direct sunlight and heat sources like a stove or oven. If for some reason, you will not use AquaTru for four or more days we recommend that you empty out the tanks, dry them out and set them aside. Turn AquaTru upside down to empty out the water in the base, before you set it aside.

Always empty the tap tank of wastewater before refilling.
