When should descaling maintenance be performed?

Depending on the mineral content of your water, a new AquaTru should filter one tank of tap water in about 10 to 15 minutes. As soon as you notice that it takes twice as long to filter a tank of water (over 20-30 minutes) you need to descale AquaTru.

Just like with your coffee maker, if you have hard water then you will need to perform regular maintenance to descale the AQT every 6-12 months.

(!) It is important that maintenance be done as soon as you notice a reduced flow rate. Failure to do so may result in the complete failure of AquaTru since operating AquaTru with very low flow rate may permanently damage the pump.

Periodic descaling may be necessary in areas where the water supply is highly mineralized ("hard" water). Scale build up in the AquaTru Pump and the Reverse Osmosis filter may result in reduced flow rates or in some cases a complete loss of flow.
